Maybe you admired the dark sky in a place with low light pollution. You can see more stars in the sky, but when you look in a city where there are more lights, you can see just few stars.
If you look carefully, in a place where there's less light pollution, you can even see the Milky Way.
Unfortunately, there are people who live in big cities that have never seen a whitish trail in the sky: the Milky Way.
In order to determine the level of light pollution of your city, you must follow these steps:
1. http://www.globeatnight.org/webapp/
2. Time of your observation
3. Latitude and longitude of your city
4. Appreciate magnitude of the sky
5. Send your observation data.
Jewelry of winter sky
Children's Educational Center Of Oradea, Romania
February 10, 2011
Look at sky in a clear night sky of February and you will see the true jewels. Orion is the constellation that dominates the winter sky, Canis Major with Sirius, Taurus with Aldebaran, and beautiful Pleiades with baby born stars.
We saw Jupiter and the Moon through our telescope.

The comets
Children's Educational Center of Oradea, Romania
January 27, 2011.
Comets are icy remnants from our solar system formation. These are objects fainter but when they pass near the Sun are spectacular celestial bodies, due the particles that form the comet tail and coma.
We have built a comet with Astronomy and Space Science Club's members of Oradea. Snow, sand and a flashlight in order to view comet tail. It was visible near the Sun with and her tail were opposite the Sun.
1. The Solar System
2. The Comets
3. Some important comets: Halley, Hale-Bopp, Shoemaker-Levy9 with teacher Marin Bica, guest of this activity.
4. SOHO, the comet hunter.

The ingredients of life
Cildren's Educational Center in Oradea, Romania
January 13, 2011
Science in space is fun and some scientific experiments can become fascinating. Space is a challenging environment for the human body. Space missions have a unique beauty but the solar radiation expose astronauts to high risks. Many factors have a negative impact in microgravity: from muscle problems, bone loss, to the problems caused by exposure to high doses of radiation. Specific exercises and other strategies help astronauts to counteract some of the effects of microgravity.
To prepare astronauts for flight applies to health programs that seek to preserve them during space missions and after their return to Earth. Many of these programs extend its applicability for improving the treatment of patients on Earth.
About the ingredients of life in space whith teacher Matei Valentina over a virtual journey with the International Space Station astronauts.
The guest of Astronomy and Space Science Club was teacher Marin Bica which explained how our planet has become a planet of life and what are the conditions for life on planets in other solar systems.

Destination Mars
Children's Educational Center in Oradea, Romania
Dec 22, 2010.
Compared with other areas on Earth, Mars is inhospitable, even compared to Antarctica. But compared with other terrestrial planets, Mars appears almost friendly.
Are there necessary elements for life?
Can we ever colonize Mars?
We explored the planet Mars and we constructed a base with all the elements necessary for survival on this planet.
Mission: Destination Mars.
Mission engineers: Adrian and Narcis, the most experienced members of the Astronomy and Space Sciences Club. They are smart and passionate about science and engineering, they built ARES V rocket and designed a base on Mars.
The rocket is on the launch platform.
Mission Pilot: Elena. Brave and fast, these words describe Elena best. She made a perfect landing in a very short time.
Specialist in robotics: Dumitra. She is smart and enthusiastic. She managed many ideas to rover repair.
The team is excited and eagerly await the launch toward Mars.
5,4,3,2,1 Lift Off!

Rovers on Mars
Children's Educational Center in Oradea, Romania
Dec.16, 2010
Human did not come from Mars, but knows some of the secrets of planet: water in solid form, the chemical compounds that contain iron, carbon dioxide, methane. The relief of the planet leads to the idea that in the past was liquid water on Mars. We studied some Mars' details and designed rovers for the next mission: Destination Mars.

Asteroids. Meteors and Meteorites
November 25, 2010
The Children's Educational Center of Oradea, Romania
Situated on the border between the terrestrial and giant planets, asteroids are very important objects because it keeps the date entered our solar system formation, 4.56 billion years ago and his subsequent history.
But what happens when after a collision, or the gravitational pull of other celestial bodies, asteroids change its trajectory?
How did dinosaurs exctinct? How was created Meteor Crater from Arizona?
How can we determine the density?
Have the Mars' moons Phobos and Deimos the same shapes with our Moon?
What are the meteors? It is a rain of stars?
The students found answers to all these questions during this activity.

Windows to the Universe
Time: November 11, 2010
The Children's Educational Center in Oradea, Romania
A night sky full of stars and galaxies. We watched the summer triangle Vega, Altair and Deneb.
We participated in Great World Wide Star Count and the magnitude from our location was 3, as the visibility of stars in Cygnus constellation .
The children were delighted by the image of the Moon, the craters, the terminator. Even Jupiter was visible. And that night was really special because before 7 pm time the International Space Station has appeared rushed on the starry sky.
